Recipe Recommendations
- Wapsie Cornmeal from Nitty Gritty Grain Co. in Charlotte, VT. It's produce...just dried and milled into something super delicious! (Hey, it's the depths of winter and it's hard to source food this time of year.) From an open pollinated heirloom variety with natural color variation throughout the kernels. Rich orange cornmeal with a robust flavor an crunchier texture. Certified Organic.
- Orange Carrots from Intervale Community Farm in Burlington, VT. Our favorites! Store them in your crisper drawer, eat often! Kept cold and at the proper humidity, carrots will last for months in your fridge. If you’ve got some older carrots in your fridge that are looking a bit sad, a quick rinse and soak in cold water can revive them. Certified Organic.
- Gold Potatoes from Burnt Rock Farm in Huntington, VT. Store potatoes in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Root cellars, cool pantries, or a basket on your countertop all work well! Enjoy within a month. Certified Organic.
- Creston Apples from Champlain Orchards in Shoreham, VT. Reid's favorite variety (and they've tried so many)! A fun, juicy, and crisp apple with a sweet, rich honey flavor reminiscent of its parent, Golden Delicious. Enjoy pear and melon tones when eaten fresh. Eco-apple certified.
- Parsnips from Intervale Community Farm in Burlington, VT. First time this year!! Store these exactly like carrots - heck, they can even snuggle together. Certified Organic.

- Asian Pears from Champlain Orchards in Shoreham, VT. These keep very well in the fridge. Pears produce ethylene, so keep them separate from any tender greens. Eco-apple Certified.

Recipe Recommendations
- First: Parsnips. A delicious and delicate quick bread made with parsnips and honey. Parsnips are slightly spicier and less sweet than carrots, which makes them delicious in bread. They are also great mashed with some potatoes - they will impart some fluffiness! Recipe here.
- Potatoes! Very versatile, and you probably don't need a recipe, but if you want one: twice-baked potatoes are the bomb. Potato gnocchi is also really easy, satisfying, and a great fresh pasta.
- Make a pie. It is delicious and also COZY. (My favorite recipe here. Creston apples have a lot of flavor so you probably don't need to add a lot of spices, but feel free to add cinnamon and lemon if you want to brighten things up.) You can also make a fast and delicious cranberry apple bread - great for breakfast.
